Rishlin and Sam

I was very thankful when the weatherman was wrong on March the 24th. The rain that had been predicted was nowhere to be seen. Instead we were treated to a beautiful day for the beautiful couple. I met Rishlin and Sam a few months ago over a coffee and we clicked straight away. I knew from the outset that this was a special couple and I was super excited to be involved on their wedding day. The location got me even more excited as I had never shot down by the harbor, so we had fun in an old ship yard with the Southern Hemisphere’s 3rd largest port creating the most beautiful backdrop. We had great fun, a great bridal party and the hardest working bridesmaid I have ever seen! I have picked a few of my favorites. Thank you Rishlin and Sam for allowing me to be a part of your amazing day! I wish you a wonderful happy life together. Enjoy.

Little Rays of Sunshine…

It was a lovely hot, summer’s day when I met Penny and Grant and their two wonderful children, Matthew and Jodie. Matthew is obviously a legend as he is my name sake and little Jodie was an absolute joy to work with. It is always such fun to hang out with a family that is very close and to capture them having fun! I have put together a few of my favorite shots. I hope you enjoy!

Little Kenzo…

Well this little fellow was just one of the cutest babies I have photographed. He was a little legend and at only 11 days old he already had a mop of hair that rivals many 40 year olds! It was such a privilege to capture a few photos. Mom and Dad were very proud of their little one and rightly so! Here are a few of my favorites. Enjoy.

This last photo is one of my favorites of all time. A son in the firm and loving grip of his proud dad.

My First Wedding…

I was very fortunate to shoot my first wedding on the 14 Jan 2012. It was a wonderful day to be apart of. The weather played its part and behaved. Neil and Timmy were awesome and I am very grateful to have had them as my first couple. I have gathered some of my favorite shots from the day. So here are some photographs and if you are looking for a wedding photographer, you know where to find me…

Being able to capture those special moment on one of the most special days in someone’s life is a privilege. Thank you Neil and Timmy. I wish you guys a lifetime of laughs, adventures and love! That’s all for now.

the Owens…

I have known this awesome family (Winston, Bron, Taine, Paige) for a very long time and so when they asked me to do a shoot with them, there was no way I was going to say no. Win and Bron were rockers back in the day and they still carry  that flag with them. So I thought the grungy walls in the city would provide the perfect backdrop and they did. You may have seen my post from yesterday, “photographing panic”. Well these are the rest of my favorites and you will be glad to know that we had no more close run ins. Enjoy!

photographing panic…

It just so happened that on a fun family shoot with the amazing Owen family, we had a bit of a near miss. Winston, Bron, Paige and Taine make up the legendary Owen clan and we did have a blast! I had positioned the family to sit on the pavement and I positioned myself lying belly down in the middle of the road. I was shooting away and was in my own creative bubble when a desperate shout of “CAR!!!” pierced my self imposed space and I looked to my left and saw a car coming right at me. Thankfully I managed to scramble out of the way and we had a good nervous laugh. However it was only until I was editing the shoot that I noticed I had captured the epic panic on Winston’s face. And to make it better over three shots the panic gets progressively worse and Bron joined in as well on the last shot. Please note that little Paige was in her own space and took my laughter suggestion very seriously. Here are the three photographs. I love them. Very real.

This is the first hint that Winston is wanting to say something… A gentle remark…

A slightly more panicked face, with a quick clap to add to the warning…

Bron joins in the action with Winston still clapping madly. This was a classic moment. And Paige missed the whole thing. That’s all for now.

A summers day with the Smiths…

I had a lot of fun with this crazy awesome family! We had a great time in down town Durban and had some great laughs together. Family means a lot to me so this was a privilege to capture some amazing moments with these guys. It was a lovely hot summers afternoon, the light was perfect and when you have a fun bunch of people, what more could you ask for? Here are a few…

Those were some of my best moments of the day. I hope you have enjoyed them.

it’s a family affair…

I had a great time with the Grieve Family and Jarred. We had lots of fun! You cannot go wrong with three beautiful  ladies. I had fun playing with my camera, it was very relaxed but with the aim of having a whopping cool Christmas card photo we kept it very simple, indoors and fun. Here are some of my favorites! Enjoy!
